Once again, I was awakened in the early morning hours by the rising moon. As soon as I acknowledged her, I could go back to sleep. I woke up a few hours later, disappointed that I couldn’t recall my dreams. I also woke up very congested. It almost felt like I was coming down with a cold. I figured it had something to do with the dust, high elevation, or chilly temperatures. And to top everything off, I was ravenous. The protein bars, bananas, apples, nuts, and berries that I had been snacking on were just not enough to sustain me.
As soon as I dressed, I started my van and pulled out of my campsite. I headed over to the visitor’s center to freshen up and officially pulled out of Chaco Canyon Historical National Park around 8:30 AM.
Initially, I wondered if I had made the right decision to leave after just one day, but when I saw another white horse, I knew it was asking me to keep moving.
Horses are symbols of freedom. This totem brings new journeys. It will teach you to explore new directions and discover your freedom and power. Horse people are usually friendly and adventurous.
During my drive back to Farmington, I decided to stop in Bloomfield, New Mexico, at the Salmon Ruins on Highway 64 to perform my “Removing Hatred” meditation. These ruins are located on the 36°42′ Parallel.

After paying my $3.00 entry fee, I went down to the site. While I explored the ruins, I searched for the perfect location to do my invocation. I chose the western side of the Great Kiva. I sat on the small wooden bench and invoked the “Removing Hatred” angel between 10:45 and 11:05 AM.
While I was performing the meditation, a Dragonfly flew around the kiva. It almost felt like it was guarding the kiva against outside intruders.
The dragonfly offered the following message: Dragonfly is the power of light and inhabits two realms. Dragonfly people will feel air and water and the influence of both these elements. Dragonfly is the essence of the winds of change, the messages of wisdom and enlightenment, and the communication from the elemental world.
I also could hear the call of a Peacock from a neighboring farm. Peacock offered the following medicine:
- being immortal,
- dignity,
- self-reliance,
- seeing the past, present, and future.
- Beauty.
I thought the messages from the Dragonfly and Peacock were very timely.
Once I completed my meditation, I placed an olive leaf on a rock on the edge of the kiva as a peace offering and thanked the Creator for my time at the ruins.
I then looked directly overhead and took the following image.
Still extremely hungry, I left Salmon Ruins and headed straight to Farmington for a late breakfast and early lunch. After I filled my belly, I went to Starbucks to work on my journal for the previous day. After I published my journal, I hit the road, heading west across northwestern New Mexico and northern Arizona, towards Kayenta.
I wasn’t exactly sure where to stop for the night, so until I figured that out, I just kept driving. It was a very windy day. My inner voices kept whispering as I heard, “The winds of change are blowing!” The winds were so strong that dust was blowing everywhere.
Six hours after leaving Farmington, I was at a Denny’s in Tuba City, Arizona. I spent the night in a hotel parking lot and went to bed around 10:00 PM.
