I spent the early part of this morning having breakfast and relaxing. Around 10:30 a.m., I checked out of my hotel and returned to the port to catch the ferry back to the mainland. While I was waiting for our boat to arrive, I observed the local wildlife. I first noticed some very bright, orange, medium-sized fish swimming happily in the harbor.
Fish brings the following wisdom:
- abundance,
- love,
- balancing mind and emotions.
- Being fertile.
- Childhood.
While I was watching the fish, three tiny barn swallows came out of nowhere and landed on the rocky shoreline below me in a formation resembling the three stars in Orion’s Belt.
Swallow offers the following message:
- being agile,
- maneuvering situations,
- protecting, and
- valuing home and family.
We began boarding the Catalina Express at 11:00 AM, and our boat pulled away from the dock at 11:35 AM. It was a beautiful, crisp California morning.
Approximately forty minutes into the trip back to the mainland, and while facing east, I began my “Revealing The Concealed” invocation.
I performed this meditation over the Pacific Ocean between 12:13 and 12:33 PM. While periodically glancing out of the boat’s window, I noticed several dolphins swimming in the ocean. Dolphin offers the following wisdom:
- freedom,
- trust,
- magic in water,
- releasing emotions,
- communication.
Completing this invocation in this particular location in the Pacific Ocean on the day after my birthday allowed me to finish the cross that I had been working on for several days. As I completed my meditation, I imagined a sacred heart radiating out in every direction from the center of the cross.

Once our boat arrived in Dana Point, I returned to my van and had lunch at Panera Bread in San Juan Capistrano to plan my next destination.
Here, I recalled a dream from the night before: I dreamt that I was driving a black… (Black symbolizes the unknown, the subconscious, danger, mystery, darkness, death, mourning, rejection, hate or malice. The color invites you to delve deeper into your psyche to better understand yourself. It also signifies a lack of love and lack of support. More positively, black represents potential and possibilities. It is like a clean or blank slate.) …pick-up truck. (To see a pick-up truck in your dream represents hard work.) Suddenly, and without much warning, the truck began to roll forward. I jumped in the truck as it started to roll down a very steep incline. (If you are going down a steep slope, you are on a quick downward slide. You are headed in the wrong direction.) I instantly began applying brakes… (To dream that you are using your brakes signifies that you should slow down in your business and/or personal affairs. You have been living on the fast lane and must take it easy.) …but I discovered that the brakes would not work without having the keys in the ignition. As I rushed to remove the keys… (To see a key in your dream symbolizes opportunities, access, control, secrets, freedom, knowledge, or responsibilities. You may be locking away your inner feelings and emotions. Or you are unlocking the answer to some problem.) …to the truck from my pocket… (To see a pocket in your dream represents your hidden talents and undeveloped abilities. You are not utilizing your strengths to the fullest potential. Did you find anything in the pocket? Consider the significance of what is inside the pocket.) …the incline became steeper and steeper, and the truck was speeding… (To dream that you are racing indicates that you are compelled and driven to complete something. As a result, you may be pushing people away. Alternatively, the dream suggests you move too fast in some relationship or situation. Perhaps you need to slow down.) …towards a white… (White represents purity, perfection, peace, innocence, dignity, cleanliness, awareness, and new beginnings. You may be experiencing a reawakening or have a fresh outlook on life. Alternatively, white refers to a clean, blank slate. Or it may apply to a cover-up. In Eastern cultures, white is associated with death and mourning.) …pick-up truck. I put the keys in the ignition and applied the emergency brake quickly. As I did this, the truck stopped several feet in front of the other vehicle without hitting it.
I think the dream tried telling me that I avoided something hazardous. While I was having lunch, I had a difficult time deciding where to go next. My first option was to head back towards Phoenix. My second option was to take a more scenic route through the country and take my chances that I wouldn’t have any problems with my van. The third option was to hang out in the Dana Point, Laguna Niguel area for one more night and leave first thing the following morning.
Against my better judgment, I decided to hit the road and head towards Arizona. These plans changed once I got on the Interstate. I realized it was rush hour, and the traffic was bumper-to-bumper. I exited the Interstate several exits later. As I approached the end of the ramp, I saw my gym and immediately pulled over. I spent the next couple of hours unwinding and doing a light workout. I did thirty minutes of cardio, several laps of swimming, and finished everything off with a nice, warm, dry sauna. It was what I needed.
As I exited the gym, I noticed a pure white dove flying across the parking lot toward the ocean. Dove brings the following wisdom:
- messenger,
- peace,
- love,
- being gentle.
At this very moment, I decided to return to the place on the beach I had visited on Day 37 when I arrived at South Laguna Beach. After driving for approximately twenty minutes, I parked my van in the same spot and returned to the beach.
While at the beach, I let my mind go and enjoyed living in the moment. I spent the next couple of hours taking photographs, talking to God, and enjoying the peace. This was much better than sitting in traffic on an Interstate highway.
Remembering the white dove from earlier in the day, I held personal space for World Peace and Unconditional Love everywhere. I didn’t want to leave the beach but knew I had to go. I spent the rest of the evening in Laguna Niguel, preparing to return to Arizona the following morning.
I was extremely grateful for the last few days and the time spent exploring the California coast. I could now honestly say that I had investigated the 33rd Parallel from coast to coast.
