And then I remembered this gem. This song made it onto the Internet two years after I started the In Search of Christ adventure, during ACT IV 72 Days of Angels and The Brotherhood of Light.
I loved this song from the first time I heard it. The lyrics Don’t You Feel Sorry For Me brought with it a double entendre, depending on if you used an exclamation point or a question mark at the end of the lyric.
I always preferred using an exclamation point, but my journey forced me to switch it over to a question mark at various times along the way. In Search of Christ had been extremely challenging for me on many different levels but every time I would start feeling sorry for myself I would pull myself up by my bootstraps, get rid of the question mark and change it back to an exclamation point, and keep going.
Don’t you feel sorry for me! Because I’m right where the universe wants me to be!
A few days after my 62nd birthday, in early August 2023, I was walking to the grocery store and thinking about the fact that I had not visited North Carolina since December 2015. It had been 7.5 years. As I was trying to figure out the possible timing for my return I walked past a parked vehicle in the parking lot with the following license plate.
Apparently, according to my mother’s spirit, my estimated time of arrival would be the ninth month of September if I was “Doin’ It Right!“
I never grew tired of these types of messages from The Matrix.

Don’t you feel sorry, don’t you feel sorry!
Broken like a crooked smile
A little hunched over but I walked that mile
I’ve woken from a fuzzy dream
You never would believe the things that I have seen
[Pre-Chorus]
Don’t you feel sorry for me!
Because I’m right where the universe wants me to be
A lesson that I needed to learn
But that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t burn
[Chorus]
Don’t you feel sorry!
Don’t you feel sorry!
Don’t you feel sorry for me!
Because I won’t change my story
You’ll take all my glory
Don’t you feel sorry for me!
[Verse 2]
Tied up with leather and rope
A little bit of medicine to give me hope
I’m inky like a smoking gun
It’s going to take a while to heal the damage done
Don’t you feel sorry for me!
Because I’m right where the universe wants me to be
A lesson that I needed to learn (A lesson that I needed to learn)
But that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t burn
Don’t you feel sorry!
Don’t you feel sorry!
Don’t you feel sorry for me!
Because I won’t change my story
Don’t take all my glory!
Don’t you feel sorry for me!
[Bridge]
(A lesson that I needed to learn)
No pain, no gain
No defective parts
No dirty business, no forgiveness
No broken heart
(Don’t you feel sorry)
[Chorus]
Don’t you feel sorry!
Don’t you feel sorry!
Don’t you feel sorry for me!
Because I won’t change my story
Don’t take all my glory!
Don’t you feel sorry for me!
