No Guilt
Day Fifty-One – April 8, 2010
Upon waking, I felt like I had come out of a coma. I had left the windows open in my canopy so I could listen to the stream, and it was so loud and soothing that I fell into a profound sleep. I dare say it was the best night’s sleep of my journey.
I recalled a dream about a young man with dark skin and long black hair. Since I was on the Cherokee Indian Reservation, I assumed the man in my dream was of Cherokee descent. I couldn’t recall many details other than him being very open and receptive to my presence and very happy. A lot of love was being passed back and forth between the two of us. It was an extraordinary dream. I could still feel the love, even after I woke up.
I then logged onto one of my favorite weather sites to find out the location of the cold front pushing its way across Tennessee. About that time, it started raining. The cold front had arrived and brought high winds and heavy rain.
Without hesitation, I hit the road to leave the heavily wooded campground. No sooner had I turned the first corner than I ran into high winds and heavy rain. The winds were strong, and the rain was falling sideways. This went on for approximately a mile.
As I kept driving, I eventually pushed out of the intense winds and got a perfect look at what the storm had left behind. If I had departed fifteen minutes earlier, there’s no telling what I would have encountered.
The thunder gods were active this morning. Coupled with my dream, I felt like I had received the initiation the bat warned me about on Day 49.
I made my way through all of the debris and onto Highway 441. This highway took me through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, from Cherokee, North Carolina, into Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
My sister and her husband had several rental properties in the Gatlinburg area, and I had called her the night before to see if any of them were available for the weekend. She checked, and the only cabin available was “Wild Turkey,” which slept 26 people. She blocked off Wild Turkey for me for the weekend and gave me the codes to get in the door and instructions on how to disarm the alarm. She then told me to have a good weekend and to call her once settled.
While driving through the Great Smoky Mountains, I couldn’t help but think of all the pain and suffering my family, and I had caused one another earlier in our lives and how much we had grown and changed. Like any family, we still had our differences, but our love for one another was strong.
Over the last week, I decided not to include my time with my family in this journey. I wanted to keep my time with them private,
As soon as I pulled up to the cabin, I got out of my truck and heard this loud bird. Suddenly, it flew through the woods beside my sister’s cottage, and I realized I had never seen a bird like that before. I instantly got online and discovered that it was a Pileated Woodpecker. It was magnificent, especially in flight.
Woodpecker brings the following wisdom:
- Connection to the earth
- Ability to find hidden layers
- Understands rhythms, cycles and patterns
- Warnings
- Prophecy
- Associated with thunder
- The Earth’s drummer,
- Pecks away at deception until the truth is revealed

Once again, the abovementioned messages would offer insight into what would happen next.
And so on day fifty-one of my journey, my sleeping quarters went from this…
To this. To say I was grateful was an understatement.
Once I got settled, I called my sister as promised and spent the rest of the evening grocery shopping and taking it easy. I was thrilled to have a safe, warm, dry place for the next few days.
Before I went to bed, I took a moment to review my daily meditation and then examined my first Destiny Card forecast for the last year:
The Ace of Spades as the Pluto Card
The powerful Ace of Spades signifies that this year will see you go through some major changes, internal and external. You may have to face the loss of one or more close relationships or other facets of your life may come to an end, leaving you changed as nothing else could. You may be ending a major chapter of life. The Ace of Spades is one of the most powerful cards for personal transformation and this year it is challenging you to let go of the past and start over. This can be a year where you have a strong desire to make a definite and fundamental change in your lifestyle or work.
On a mundane level, you may be wanting to begin a totally new line of work or effect a total change in the way you approach your work. You may be looking for something that will really motivate you to put yourself totally into your work.
On a deeper level, you may be overdue for a totally new way of living your life and you are making a concerted effort at self-exploration to uncover the deeper mysteries of yourself. This quest may lead you to the study of metaphysical sciences such as this Science of the Cards or Astrology. On the other hand, the passing of someone near to you may be something that is very challenging to be with this year. Since the Ace of Spades is the card for death and transformation, this passing would radically change you as well.
Look to the Result Card to get more information about this change you are wanting in your life this year. If the Result Card is that of someone you know, then this change will be directly related to that person. If not, study the meaning of the Result Card and combine it with the basic theme of radical change to get the whole picture of the challenge you have put before yourself this year.
Affirmation: I create a powerful transformation in my life this year. I am manifesting new beginnings in many important areas and letting go of the past.. Copyright Book of Destiny
