Casting Yourself In A Favorable Light
Day Sixty-Four – April 21, 2010
I woke up and headed directly to a local grocery store to replenish my cereal, which had run out the previous morning. I then got on the Beltway and made my way to Northern Virginia. It took me approximately thirty minutes to drive from Maryland to Virginia.
I spent the first part of the day having lunch, working out at a local gym, and doing my last laundry for my adventure. Coincidentally, I ran out of washing detergent as I put in my last load of clothes. I could feel my trip coming to an end.
After laundry, I headed to my favorite Thai restaurant for a bite. As soon as I walked in the door, the owner looked at me and said, “I know you!” She would have recognized me quicker if I hadn’t shaved my head and grown a beard. I reminded her of who I was, and she walked me over to my table and sat down with me for a chat.
Victor and I frequented this particular restaurant at least two or three times a month back when I lived in DC. I loved the food and the people there so much that I created a website for them and their restaurant sometime before leaving DC in 2004.
The restaurant owner sat down with me and told me she wanted to make a few quick changes to some of her web pages. I retrieved my computer from my truck, logged in, and made a few revisions. In the meantime, I ordered my favorite dish and waited for it to come to the table. I ordered Vegetarian Springs Rolls, Chicken with Ginger, Onions, and Mushrooms, and Sticky Rice with fresh Mango for dessert. It was delicious and such a treat. I enjoyed every single bite.
When it came time to pay the bill, the owner told me not to worry. She took care of the bill and thanked me for revising her site. At that point, I left Rincome and headed over to the Arlington Metaphysical Chapel for Wednesday night services. I arrived at AMC around 7:00 PM.
I walked inside, introduced myself, and told a couple of the charming ladies at the front door that I was on a journey and would like to know if it would be possible for me to park my truck in their parking lot while I was visiting. I could not find a nearby campground and didn’t want to drive out to Maryland every night. They said they would have to forward my request and would let me know once the service was complete.
At that point, they were instructed to fill out a billet. On the outside of the piece of paper, I had to write down three names of loved ones who had passed on, a question, and my initials and birth date. I followed their instructions and walked into the chapel for their healing services.
I sat on the front pew, waiting for the invitation to approach the altar. When it was my turn, I sat for my healing. It was what I needed, and I was very grateful.
Once the healing was complete, I returned to the pews and made my way to a bench mid-way down the aisle. Services began at 7:30, when we sang several hymns and prepared for a night of messages from the other side.
When they passed around the offering tray, we were asked to place the billet on the plate. The tray then made its way to the front of the chapel. The medium in charge of the services then began randomly picking out one billet at a time and reading the initials on the outside. Without opening the paper, she would mention one or two of the names written down and then answer the question.
When she came to my billet, she mentioned my father’s name, John, and my mother’s name, Letha. She said that both spirits were present. She then said, “Wow! I’m getting the impression that you’ve been on a spiritual journey. I keep seeing 40 days and 40 nights or a journey through the desert! They want me to tell you that you have reached an oasis, and please know that it’s not a mirage. It’s a real oasis. You are very near to the end of your journey.”
She continued, “But now it’s time to look inside. You’ve searched in the waters and the mountain tops, but now it’s time to go within!” Then she said something bizarre. Then she said something extraordinary. Would anyone in this chapel recognize Christ if he were to walk in today? Namaste, and God Bless You!” And that was the end of my message for the evening. I thanked her for her words and then sat and listened to everyone else receive their messages from spirit.
When the services were over, I reintroduced myself and asked again if it would be okay for me to spend the night in the chapel’s parking lot. At that point, a charming lady came from out of the office and said that it was okay for the night. However, they would decide on Thursday if I could stay in the parking lot the rest of the week and during the weekend.
I then logged into my favorite astrology website to check my daily forecast for the following day, and it read as follows:
Life-experiences | Activity period from middle of February 2010 until middle of December 2011: This is a particularly good time to stand by those close to you who are physically or mentally suffering. Your intuition is now unusually powerful, enabling you to sense the often hidden causes underlying human suffering. Through your daily contacts with others you may, without being conscious of the fact, develop therapeutic skills. Even if your work does not involve helping those in crisis, you may have to deal more often with such issues on a daily basis. You are now far more receptive to human suffering, particularly when – as is often the case – it is connected to some kind of loss.
If you are mourning some loss at this time this influence will help you to better accept and understand the larger life-processes. Issues such as birth, death, winning and losing are integral parts of life, and it is only when we suppress the natural mourning process which accompanies these that complex emotions form in the unconscious which can cause fear or anxiety. The more positive aspects of this influence can help us to develop a calmer and more conciliatory approach to any challenges which life has to offer. This also applies to painful experiences which continue to influence our emotional life. You will now find it easier to lessen the ongoing impact of such events on your life, and to learn to accept them as important life- experiences.

I thought about all the people and spirits I had met on my journey so far and the changes that had taken place in them and me. Suddenly, everything was starting to make sense. I went to bed in the chapel’s parking lot sometime that night. I wasn’t exactly sure what time I finally drifted off to sleep.
That night, my cousin who lived on Capitol Hill invited me to stay at his house, but I could not do so once we discovered that my truck’s canopy wouldn’t fit in his parking garage. I wasn’t about to park my vehicle on the streets of DC. I had watched my truck for 65 days, barely leaving its side, and I wasn’t about to let down my guard at this point. I had also heard back from AMC earlier in the day, and they informed me that they couldn’t host me any longer due to liability; they had received some concerns from the neighbors, so I had to return to the Greenbelt National Park for another night of camping. My intuition was correct.
I stopped at the local grocery store, purchased some groceries, and pulled into the campground around 10:00 p.m. It was the perfect setting to spend my last few hours of Earth Day.
I went to bed shortly afterward, grateful I had a safe place to spend the night.
