Day Three with Family | Las Vegas, Nevada
The third day in Las Vegas was much like the first two days. I think we were all ready to leave at this point, but we had to stick to our hotel reservations, so we hung around and made the best of it. Instead of focusing on the less attractive things about Las Vegas, I tried to remain positive and look for the good.
A friend of mine had posted The Ten Indian Commandments on his Facebook page, so I decided to put together the following list:
The Hebrew Ten Commandments
1. You shall have no other gods before Me.
2. ‘You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything in heaven above, in the earth beneath, or in the water under the earth.
3. ‘You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.’
4. ‘Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.’
5. ‘Honor your father and your mother.’
6. ‘You shall not murder.’
7. ‘You shall not commit adultery.’
8. ‘You shall not steal.’
9. ‘You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.’
10. You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.’
The Native Indian American Ten Commandments
1. The Earth is our Mother, care for her.
2. Honor all your relations.
3. Open your heart and soul to the Great Spirit.
4. All life is sacred; treat all things with respect.
5. Take from the Earth what is needed and nothing more.
6. Do what needs to be done for the good of all.
7. Give constant thanks to the Great Spirit for each new day.
8. Speak the truth, but only of the good in others.
9. Follow the rhythms of nature; rise and retire with the sun.
10. Enjoy life’s journey, but leave no tracks.
The Four Noble Truths of Buddhism
1. The way to end suffering is to follow the Noble Eightfold Path:
2. Suffering can be stopped.
3. Suffering is caused by desire and attachment.
4. All of life is marked by suffering.
1. Right knowledge
2. Right intention
3. Right Speech
4. Right action
5. Right livelihood
6. Right effort
7. Right mindfulness
8. Right concentration
Seven Spiritual Truths
1. You have never made a mistake because you are incapable of error or failure.
2. Most of your core foundational beliefs are rooted in fear.
3. You have no enemies, just lessons.
4. As you spiritually ascend with truth, you view more of your ego-based avoidance patterns.
5. You are never alone because God is always with you.
6. Your spiritual growth requires action.
7. You have God-like abilities.
My family and I prepared to depart from Las Vegas early the following day.
