I received the fourth response to the Unconditional Love survey on December 18. Thanks, Bill. I greatly appreciate your response and wisdom.
Date of Reading: December 18, 2010
Participant’s Name: Bill
Bill’s Birthdate: 2/1/1959
1) Do you believe in Unconditional Love? If so, based on which religion or spiritual practice? I’m not sure if there is a religion or spiritual practice from which this love comes, but I know it exists. I learned it from two wonderful basset hounds name MacArthur and Tyson. No matter how I acted or what I did they always loved me—unconditionally. This is something I believe we have to learn from our animal friends. As humans, I find that we find it so easy to question motives and what people are thinking instead of just accepting. I hope some day we can all be as good as those two dogs.
2) What does the concept of Unconditional Love mean to you personally? It means accepting someone for who they are—faults and all (even as faults are determined by the person who sees them as faults). Although I must admit that there are certain issues I will not accept such as abuse, drug addiction, etc., but then I don’t believe my dog would have done the same either since that means he wouldn’t have had a safe home environment.
3) Does your faith teach Unconditional Love? If so, please share that teaching here. My faith is not traditional. I believe in a great being than myself, but I don’t believe in the all powerful being since I don’t think someone can sit idly by and watch an innocent child or animal be tortured. My faith teaches me we have choices and that there is another world. How else would my deceased brother have sent me messages years ago?
4) Are you political? How do you practice Unconditional Love in your politics? I can get political and have been in the past, but as the years go by I choose my battles. I’m liberal in most of my beliefs, but being a property owner I hate to see my taxes increased, etc. I guess it all depends on who you are, where you live and how you view the world. I want all of us to have the same opportunities. Is that possible? I’m not sure, but I’d like to believe it is in life.
5) Do you practice Unconditional Love in your everyday life? I’m human and am judgmental in life. I have my faults. Unlike my dogs, I see things from my life and make my own calls. Try as I might, I probably couldn’t qualify as such although I do try to give each person a chance.
6) Have you ever experienced Unconditional Love from another human being? If so, please share your experience here. I feel I’m loved in life from many different people and therefore I’m blessed. I’m not sure it’s unconditional, but I know those people have been there for me through thick and thin, so I guess in a sense it is. I’m a very lucky man and count my blessings. Life is something I cherish.
That evening, I added the word “Joy” to the lights on the roof.
