October 11, 2010
I spent the first part of this day doing laundry and straightening up around Ricardo’s house. Since I was a guest, I felt like I needed to pay my rent, so to speak. I had always enjoyed doing housework as long as I could take a break from time to time to do something creative on my computer in between chores.
I was washing my truck when Ricardo came home for lunch. He pulled up to the end of the driveway and said, “Let’s get a bite to eat!” I immediately locked up the house, hopped in his car, and we went to lunch. It was delicious.
During our drive to the restaurant, Ricardo said he had talked to his friend about the reading I had done for him the previous Saturday night and was happy to report that his friend was utterly changed by it. He was filled with hope once again. This news made me extremely happy. I told Ricardo the same thing had happened during my various journeys with other people. I knew it was something that I was meant to do.
After lunch, we returned to Ricardo’s house to change the linens on his bed and began discussing his ideas for his business in greater detail. It was a very productive conversation.
Ricardo then returned to work, and I began working on Day 26 of my journal. Once I published that page, I drove across town to my gym to swim some laps and mentally process everything that was happening in my life.
I returned to Ricardo’s house right before 5:00 PM, and he arrived home shortly afterward. He took a nap while I worked on my computer. I had spent the entire day trying to figure out if I was actually going to stay in Phoenix with Ricardo or if I was going to continue my journey on the road. I laughed when I thought about the fact that I stopped over for a visit on October 3rd and still had not left.
Upon waking from his nap, Ricardo came in to check on me. I told him that the candle was getting close to the bottom, and I had to decide whether to stay in Phoenix with him or continue my journey elsewhere.
We spent the next little while discussing our options and headed out to dinner. I decided to stay in Phoenix, to Fear(less) as my daily meditation suggested, and to give this new friendship a chance to grow. Although I wasn’t crazy about Phoenix, I wondered if perhaps it would grow on me.
